Dalapchand

Dalapchand is a picturesque, offbeat mountain village located near the border of West Bengal and East Sikkim, along the historic Old Silk Route. Geographically spanning the Kalimpong district of West Bengal (where it is known as Dalapachan Khasmahal) and extending up toward the Aritar-Rhenock block of Pakyong/East Sikkim, it sits at an elevation of roughly 6,000 feet above sea level. The name "Dalapchand" translates locally to "The Great Flat Stone"

Historical Significance: In the past, Dalapchand served as a crucial staging and halting post for Tibetan traders. They traversed high-altitude mountain passes to bring silk and merchandise from China down into the commercial hubs of Kalimpong. Sections of the ancient mule tracks are still visible to visitors today

Natural Beauty: Known as one of the cleanest and most well-maintained villages in the region, it features mist-covered hills, pine forests, and residential gardens vibrant with Himalayan orchids and cacti.
